Here are some of the questions parents often ask before joining Aplomb Day Nursery.
At Aplomb Day Nursery, we welcome babies from 3 months up to 5 years old. Whether you’re looking for a safe space for your little one while you return to work, or a nurturing preschool program before school starts, we’ve got you covered.
At Aplomb Day Nursery, we follow the Birth to 5 Matters framework to support every child’s individual journey through fun, play-based learning. Our team plans focused activities designed for each child’s stage of development, blending Montessori-style learning with STEAM education to build curiosity, creativity, and problem-solving skills.
We also introduce early phonics for school readiness and follow our “5-a-day” reading rule five story sessions daily to nurture a lifelong love of books and language. Every day at Aplomb helps children grow in confidence, independence, and imagination.
Every child is given a Key Person. A dedicated member of staff who gets to know them really well. They’ll be your child’s main point of care, making sure they feel safe, settled, and supported, while also keeping you updated on their progress and milestones.
Yes! At Aplomb Day Nursery, outdoor play is part of our daily routine because we believe fresh air and exploration are key to healthy development. Children enjoy outdoor learning and play every day whether it’s sunny or raining, in our safe, well-equipped garden areas. We simply ask parents to send in weather-appropriate clothing so your little one can make the most of their time outside.
At Aplomb Day Nursery, we follow clear health and safety guidelines to protect every child. If your child is unwell, we ask that they stay home until they’ve been symptom-free for 24 to 48 hours, depending on the illness. This helps prevent the spread of infection and keeps our nursery environment healthy and happy.
Our team will advise you on when your child can return, following the latest UK Health Security Agency guidance.
A nursery focuses on early care and learning for babies and toddlers, while a preschool prepares children aged 3–5 for school through more structured, skill-based activities.
At Aplomb Day Nursery, we offer both in one setting. Our dedicated Apple Class is our preschool room, where children enjoy Montessori-inspired and STEAM-based learning. With early phonics through Read Write Inc., creative problem-solving, and school-readiness activities, your child receives everything a preschool offers without needing to move to a new setting.
You may be eligible for childcare funding from the term after your child turns 9 months old. The amount and type of funding depend on your child’s age and your family circumstances.

Your child’s safety is our top priority. When you register, we’ll ask about any allergies or dietary needs. A care plan will be put in place, and we use a clear plate-colour system so staff know exactly what each child can and can’t eat. Our kitchen and playrooms also keep allergy lists visible at all times.
Day nurseries like Aplomb provide structure, routine, and a rich learning environment. Children mix with a wide group of peers, helping them build friendships and social skills. They also benefit from carefully planned activities and resources designed to spark curiosity. For parents, it means peace of mind knowing your child is safe, happy, and developing every day.
Yes! These are two separate schemes, but they work perfectly side by side. Tax-Free Childcare helps cover 20% of your childcare fees, while 30 Hours Funded Childcare gives you set free hours each week. Using both can make a big difference to your monthly costs and we’re always happy to help you apply.
If you think you might be late, please contact the nursery as soon as possible. We understand delays can happen, and we’ll always prioritise your child’s safety. If we don’t hear from you, we’ll first try to reach the primary carers and then the emergency contacts you’ve provided. If after one hour no one can be reached, we have a legal duty to inform Social Services to ensure your child remains safe.
Working in childcare is incredibly rewarding because you get to shape children’s early experiences and help them grow. Every day brings something new, from watching first words to celebrating big milestones. If you love being around children, enjoy helping them learn, and want to make a difference, a career at Aplomb Day Nursery could be perfect for you. It’s a chance to build meaningful relationships, develop your skills, and play a real part in each child’s development journey.
Monthly fees are worked out by multiplying your daily rate by the number of days your child attends each week, then by 52 weeks, and dividing by 12 months. This keeps your monthly payments consistent and easy to budget for.
If your child joins partway through a month, fees are adjusted based on the actual days attended.
Yes, you can request to change your booking pattern at any time by speaking directly with the Nursery Manager. We’ll always do our best to accommodate your preferred days, depending on space availability. Keep in mind that changes may affect your monthly fees, so our team will confirm any adjustments before finalising them.
Absolutely. Parents are always welcome to call or email the nursery for updates. Our team is happy to let you know how your child is doing, and we can even send photos so you feel reassured that your little one is safe, happy, and engaged in their activities throughout the day.
